Amazing find
I made a nostalgic trip back to my neighbourhood in the mountains of Antipolo, a subdivision called Victoria Valley. I found these signs still hanging all over....my husband Mark painted these signs 10 years ago, in response to the widespread fires. It was our feeble attempt to stop the 'slash and burn' tactics that destroyed the land and our homes. The burning continues, but the signs remain!posted by Sister Robin at

Hi Robin,
I moved to Victoria Valley in 2006 and noticed the rampant cutting of trees and open burning everywhere also. Well, to let you know, my wife has been elected as chairman of victoria valley and we are about to end this slash and burn. We will enforce the DENR laws with stiff fines/jail time.

Larry, Your comment is so unbelieveable it seems like a farse! If it is really true, I certainly wish you the best, as they say "more power to you"! The local politicians have been utterly worthless in the past, and we had to take matters into our own hands. We voted in our own fines (hope you can find the old minutes) because DENR and Barangay officials refused to do anything.
I'll write a story about what I did to get that fine, when i have time, and post it.
